4/ Marcus’s dad always noticed his happiness even when he wasn’t performing well. At the time, it frustrated him because he couldn’t understand why his dad wasn’t pushing him harder. Little did he know, his dad saw something even more important – his genuine joy and love for what he was doing.
5/ Now, as a dad himself, Marcus thinks a lot about how to pass on this mindset to his son and daughter – the importance of finding genuine happiness in what they do, rather than just chasing external success. A powerful reminder to celebrate the journey, not just the destination.
6/ Marcus believed that if he worked hard and performed well, he would be rewarded in his career. However, he felt frustrated by the lack of recognition and opportunities he received.
7/ He vocalized his desire for career advancement, and asked about his path, but received unsatisfactory answers. This lack of guidance didn’t deter him. It only fueled his fire to prove himself and create his own path.
8/ Marcus brought in significant work for his company but still felt unappreciated. It was his wife who saw his potential, believed in him, and encouraged him to start his own firm. Sometimes, all it takes is that one person to push you to believe in your abilities.
9/ At first, Marcus dismissed the idea of starting his firm, but eventually, he started to believe in his capabilities and became more aggressive in pursuing his goals.
